    Covariance is not just covariant return types, that's
    why I used the term covariance -- so it is not, in
    fact, a no brainer, but I admit, I didn't know
    covariant return types was in GJ; I naively assumed
    that such things would be in another spec.
    Yes, I understand that other things besides return types can be covariant. However, the only time I've ever seen a proposal to add covariance to Java has been adding covariant return types. It's been the #2 or #3 RFE for years, and Generic Java implementations have supported this feature for years. When you asked about covariance in the conext of the Generic Java forum, I assumed that's what you meant.

    What other kind of covariance are you referring to?
