I found -client option supported on linux but can not find on NT. Is it not supported? Where can I find document details what -client/-server(default) supports and guideline on when to use either option

On Windows the Java HotSpot Client VM is the default JVM in JDK1.3. If you install the Server HotSpot then you will need to use the -client runtime option to switch between the two JVMs, if you make the server the default compiler.

See the following URL for java options on Windows
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/tooldocs/win32/java.html#vm

"The Solaris and Linux versions of J2SE 1.3 ship with the Java HotSpot Server VM pre-installed. The Java
HotSpot Server VM for Win32 platforms is available as a separate download from the Java HotSpot web site."

    See following URL: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/performance/hotspot.html#server
