Hello all,
I have an applet which contains a JTree on a web portal. The applet is aligned on the left side of the page. I also have have a series of Javascript drop-down menus along the top of the page. Whenever any of the menus directly above the applet is expanded the drop-downs are underneath the applet and are inaccessible and unreadable. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

Thanks,

    Randy,

    This has to do with how the browser displays embedded items on the page. You'll notice the same thing will happen if you put a dropdown box under your menu. Check out this example:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Dropdown Example</title>
    <style>
    div {
    background-color: gray;
    position: absolute;
    top: 10;
    left: 20;
    z-index: 10;
    }
    </style>
    <script>
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form>
    <select>
    <option>this is an option</option>
    <option>this is an option</option>
    <option>this is an option</option>
    <option>this is an option</option>
    </select>
    </form>
    <div>
    this is a menu
    this is a menu
    this is a menu
    this is a menu
    this is a menu
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    If you try it in IE and Mozilla, you'll notice that they both handle it differently.

    There is no workaround that I know of.

    If it's possible, you might want to move your menu to the right so that it won't overlap on your applet.

    Good luck!
