Problem with JTabbedPane

Hi ... I am trying to set the background of the tabbed pane i am having ,from a configuration files. But the problem is only the pannel on every tab takes the color background as in configuration file ... but the projections you see on the tab clicking on which you can select the tab .. it take some different color .. only for the selected tab ... could be the default color ...light gray only ...
Is there any way to change it?

Generally changing a components background colour just makes a mess, I don't know why the option is there as it only seems to work properly on basic components like canvas. As far as I know, the only way to change the colour completely would be to overwride the paint method of the tabbed panel class.
