Error - Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded

843810Apr 11 2005 — edited Jul 8 2009
I installed my scanner software and after installation, I received an error message:

Unable to start the application - the Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class not registered.

I am running Windows XP with SP2.

How do I know if I even have VM installed on my computer? If I don't, can I just download it and install it? I don't know anything about Java or VM.

Thanks in advance.

there you can download the latest Java Runtime Environment

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp [Download JRE 5.0 Update 2]

I had the same problem, so I downloaded JRE 5.0 Update 4. I uninstalled my Scanner software and reinstalled, then rebooted my machine. I am still getting the error Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded.

Is there anything else I can check or fix?

PS> I also used the Verification of the install that was on the Java website, and was verified that I have the latest Java Virtual Machine.

Also, some background, I just did a new install of Windows XP - SP2, with the option that all was erased on my hard drive, then the install was done. Prior to this I had W2K Professional and the Scanner software worked fine.

Thanks,

Same here: After installation of SHARPDESK network scanner software, I get the same message "Unable to start the application....class not regisered" Using WinXP SP2. Have updated java and have removed and re-installed SHARDESK, Also have uninstalled Jave thinking the application was bundled into it. Still no go

I'll keep trouble shooting.....

I fixed it! I uninstalled this version of java with the file name of jre-1_5_0_03-windows-i586-p.exe and rebooted, then installed this smaller version of Java called msjavx86.exe. Can't remember the urls at the moment. It resolved the errror message and allowed my network scanner to be configured for the individual and work. I noticed that 1_5_0_03-windows-i586-p.exe is like 15 megs and msjavx86.exe is only 5 megs in size. This is FTELLER38 by the way. Could not log in to this thread with my username.

Good luck and I'll look in my history for the URL to msjavx86.exe

The URL that gave me the version of java that worked with my network scanning software (SHARDESK) is

http://www14.plala.or.jp/wakujava/microsoft/msjavx86.exe

No more Java virtual Machine error and the thing works now.. even though this link looks like it's on a japanese website, the applet is in english.

Is that you? (If not, please forgive me...)

When starting application get error dialog:
"Unable to start the application -- the Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class not registered."

Java Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_06-b05)

This occurred with an old program that was working with WinXP Home. I updated to WinXP Pro SP2 just this year. I have no JAVA problems with other software.

Is there a way to re-register the JAVA class? Hopefully without uninstalling/reinstalling.

Installing the Java Virtual Machine

The Java Virtual Machine is a program that is necessary for running Java programs such as PhotoSite AlbumBuilder. To install the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, download and run the appropriate installer below. After you install it, restart your computer.

Windows 98/NT/ME/XP/2000 (SP1/SP2) users:
http://support.photosite.com/msjavx86.exe

Windows 2000 (SP3) users:
http://support.photosite.com/Q300845.exe

Windows 2000 users (Service Pack 4):
Microsoft provides no installer for Windows 2K + SP4. You must either revert to an earlier Service Pack or upgrade to Windows XP instead.
* NOTE: You must be logged into an "Administrator" account to install the Virtual Machine.

If you recently installed Internet Exploder (Explorer) 7, you need to download a patch from HP. Go to www.HP.com and navigate their site. You will eventually find the patch you need. My scanner is an older one and I got the site to give me the cure.

I see that others are having the same problem. I have Windows XP Professional and having problems with my HP Director. I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it; however, it only installed 69% and I got an error message, as others have, "Unable to start application. The Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class not registered. " I called and paid for an additional 2 week warranty, but no one at HP could solve my problem. Could you please let me know what I can do to take care of this problem? Thank you.

The software patch is available at www.hp.com I found it for my HP4500c scanner for the Windows XP operating system by going through several screens, first identifying the HP product, then the operating system. The file name for the patch I used is as follows:

CIT207355-HPCOM-PATCH-v8.exe 1/1 (925.55k)

As noted the other message above, my problem started after downloading and installing Internet Explorer 7 last week. The patch fixed my problems.

Error: Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded
What does this error message mean?
843810
I solved this problem from the solution given from dipi (posted on Dec 5, 2007 6:23 PM). Many thanks to dipi!

You can find the answer provided from this link http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2007/12/unable-to-start-application-java.html

I Installed the Java software manually by running setup.exe (msjavax86.exe).
Below weblink is common for both windows vista and XP

http://www.alibre.com/alibrelibraries/ftp/JavaVM/9xNT4/msjavx86.exe

Hope this info is useful to you.
