Error message: Document root element is missing

Hi,
I keep getting this message while I try to compile java classes using ant and the build.xml file. I am working through the J2EE tutorial.
I'm using win 98.
Any idea why am getting this message?

it seems like you are missing the root element,take a look where you are creating a
root element for ur xml doc,and make sure u r creating it.
