Ora9iAS with McAfee VirusScan & Firewall 7.0

152930Aug 25 2003 — edited Aug 28 2003
Hi,
Due to recent events I installed a firewall on my stand alone PC with Portal 8.1.7.1.1 and Laptop with Portal 9.0.2 (9iAS 9.0.2.2.0 core patch set), both running Win 2k on DHCP with modem OFF. The PC will start all portal and database services automatically, and after allowing the program to pass the firewall it works as usual (no problem here). However, I start the portal on the laptop manually and get the following error with the database even after I shut down and remove the firewall:

C:\ora9ias_inf\dcm\bin>dcmctl start –v

ADMN-202026
A problem has occurred accessing the Oracle9iAS infrastructure database.
Base Exception:
Oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaException:Unable to connect to Directory Server:javax.naming.CommunicationException: simple bind failed: c515054.attbi.com:4032 [Root exception is java.net.SocketException: Socket closed]
Please, refer to the base exception for resolution, or call Oracle support.

I am a student trying to complete my graduation project and understand that the socket is closed but don’t know even how to go about it. I am also concerned about trying to fix this on my own and messing it up even more. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Stephen,
Thank you for getting back to me!
As far as I know, I didn’t download this file. It is a new laptop with your typical programs (Office, Explorer, etc.) and Oracle Portal. Having said that, I will need to go home tonight and do a search. I’ll let you know. How does Java fit in the puzzle?

Thanks again!

Stephen,

I am just a novice. My installation of the portal and database includes many files called javavm. However, I was able to use the portal with no problems prior to my installation of McAfee.
