How can I make an applet viewable on a web browser?

I want to put an applet on a web browser. I am fairly new to Java. I took a class a while back, but haven't had time to do much developing in a while. I want to make a game for my daughter's multiplication tables, but I want to put it on a website. I am pretty good at HTML, but I'm having trouble getting an applet to work in a browser.

Go through the tutorial - http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/deployment/applet/ - and generate a couple of very simple "Hello World" level applets. When you have these working properly you can start of your daughter's stuff.

I got the applet to work in the browser. Thanks for the help. I was using an <object> tag instead of an <APPLET> tag.
