Oracle JDeveloper 12C Oracle (JDBC)

Hi guys,

I recently downloaded Oracle JDeveloper 12c Studio Edition, during the installation there were no errors as it was successfully installed.

I tried to connect to the database via create database connection but I got this error:

Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection (this error was shown after typing the username: hr and password: hr)

As I am new to Oracle JDeveloper, I was following a tutorial and realised that in the tutorial the user was using Oracle JDeveloper 11g.

So I checked Services in the Administrators tools and found that OracleServicesXE was nowhere to be seen.

Could someone please explain what I could do? Is there a download that I must install? As I don't know how to make this work.
