Dear Folks,

I have a question which might not be perfectly suitable in this group but I am not aware where to put my query.

We would be going to install & integrate below applications, for each application separate team would be working out for installation & configuration.

1.BRM (Billing & Revenue Management)
2.Siebel CRM
3.AIA
4.OSM
5.UIM
6.ASAP
7.OCOMC
8.Comptel
9.PH4C
10.BIP
11.ATG

As a part of database team, I would like to know

1. Usually how database configuration is done while these kind of environment is setup?

2. Do we require to create a single database and each application would be having a separate schema OR separate database need to be installed for each application?

3. Do we have any oracle provided document/link for such environment setup?

However, environment would be OEL 5x & Oracle DB 11gR2

Your inputs are very valuable for me, kindly assist.

Regards,

Vineet

BRM, Siebel and ATG typically have their own databases that come with the install of the software. AIA is typically installed on middleware and end-point databases - I have no idea  what the other acronyms mean. In short, some, if not all, of these will have separate dedicated databases.

  • Thanks Srini,

So you mean BRM, Siebel & ATG do not require a new database creation and same way AIA database is installed with middleware, right?

Below is the full form for some of the acronyms:

    1. BRM (Billing & Revenue Management)

    2. Siebel CRM (Customer Relationship Management)

    3. AIA (Application Integration Architecture)

    4. OSM (Order & Service Management)

    5. UIM (Unified Inventory Management)

    6. OCOMC (Oracle Communication Offline Mediation Controller)

    7. BIP (Business Intelligence Publishers)

    8. ATG

You will have to check the install docs for these applications to determine if the database comes with the install, or if a separate database needs to be created before the install of the software.
