Oracle Apex Global Variable

Hi Experts,

I can not able to passing global variable in oracle apex (Application Express 4.2.5.00.08). I am new to Oracle apex. So please explain detail.

Note : i tried those ways

Creating Application item but i can not able to use it in page wise.(global variable).

My Requirement :

Create User table like username,password,id

i have log in using username and password but i need to pass the global variable is id. i refer all the site  more or less suggested creat the application item but i can not able processed the next step. please give me the solution.
