Using Designer 6i (database 11gR2)

After creating an ERD Diagram I cannot save the diagram. The error message has no number the message is something like ""an unnamed file contains invalid path""

Any clues?

Maybe the working directory of the icon you use to startup Designer is a location where you do not have writing privileges

The log for doing the import gets written to the same directory

It looks a bit like the following post Colleagues of mine had trouble saving the pl/sql logic as well and were getting strange errors like "CDD-22202 An error trying to store text". They were using a versiioned repository. After downgrading to database 11.1.0.7 everything worked fine again inside the repository. So if you are using database 11gR2 or 12c change compatible to 11.1.0.7 in your DB.

In a different post Michael Wickham said about 11G compatibility :

Yes they finally certified Designer with an 11.2 DB.

However there are some major bugs that will not be fixed.

I recommend you upgrade to an 11.1.0.6 DB as it is a stable platform for Designer and stay there.

Since you are on a 11.2 and designer 6i, this might be one of those major bugs.

    Regards,

    Mark

    Thanks.

I tried but an 11.2 control files are not compatible with 11.1

So I guess I will have to move to SQL Data Modeler
