How can I add a digital signature to an outgoing e-mail from PL/SQL using UTL_SMTP?

I am presently using Oracle's UTL_SMTP utilities to send e-mails from PL/SQL. I have been asked to figure out how to digitally sign the e-mails. I have been unable to figure out how to do this. Can anyone help? Is it even possible?

    SMTP is the transport mechanism.

UTL_SMTP enables you to connect to a SMTP server, and deliver a (MIME) payload for transport to the specified recipient(s).

    That is it.

UTL_SMPTP does not have mail attachment calls. Or mail HTML formatting calls. Or mail encoding calls. Or mail encryption calls. These need to be done outside of UTL_SMTP. Other software (user written or using other interfaces) need to create the payload, and then supply that payload to UTL_SMTP for transporting.
