what is the latest version of Java available

Hi , I'm new to java world and want to pick up this language , is there much difference in the versions of Java , I have currently Java 1.7 , but I also see Java8 available.

The Java Tutorials primarily describe features in Java SE 8. For best results,  download JDK 8.

If you are just starting then you have NO REASON to use an older version than the current one.

I think Java8 update 66 is the latest there for download.

You can start with java7 as well, there won't be any difference from leaning stand point of view.
