Java 8 update 66

edited Jan 22, 2016 12:02PM in Java 8 Questions

I have a user that uses an application that will only operate on "JAVA 8 update 66".  Can anyone tell me where I can download it from?  I understand the latest version is always recommended, however the vendor has not updated their software to meet the JAVA 8 update 71 version.

The warning first..... the latest version is recommended because it contains fixes for security vulnerabilities. It is not advised to run Java or any other piece of software that does not have the latest security fixes. Running software with vulnerabilities may present a security risk.

My recommendation is that you contact the application vendor and let them know they need to update the application to support the latest version of Java.

If you would still like to download 8u66, earlier versions of Java are available from the Java Archive. You are required to login to be able to download. Also, on each of the pages there you will see the warning about not using older versions of Java in production, because of the security vulnerabilities.

The message you will see on the pages in the Java Archive.

WARNING: These older versions of the JRE and JDK are provided to help developers debug issues in older systems. They are not updated with the latest security patches and are not recommended for use in production.

Please let the application vendor know that they need to update their application,
