how to enable or disable required field attribute based on some condition

I have two drop downs.when i select onchange of first drop downs my second drop down data gets populated.my requirement is there are some values in first drop down which should make my second drop down required field attribute to true or false.kindly help me

If you are using knockout, you can bind the required option to an observable that you update when the second drop down is populated. If not, then just call the jqueryUI option function to update the required attribute:

$('#yourElem').ojInputText("option", "required", true)
