Jdeveloper 12c IDE performance on Windows 10

user12216356Oct 4 2017 — edited Oct 17 2017

Hi,

I am using Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 12.2.1.2.0 on a Windows 10 64 bit platform with 16 GB RAM, it seems terribly slow and laggy so much so as I would say almost unusable, navigating into different files takes an age, writing code takes an age(it seems to be checking something in the background). I have tried the usual steps of changing the look and feel to windows, increasing the memory in ide.conf and jdev.conf, disabling features and disable build after save options. Is there anything else those with Windows machines have tried? I heard the anti-virus might be a problem but as on a corporate system the anti-virus is prescribed on the PC. I have seen it used on a MAC and the experience is a world away.

Antivirus really can be a problem, disable him if you can somehow (or test in machine without antivirus), and see difference

I had the same issue.

After disable Antivirus, the performance goes back to normal.

Is there any Virus Screen software doesn't cause the JDeveloper 12c performance?

Thanks.

We can't give you any fool proof solution here. Mentioning a specific produce would be spam, and the post would be removed.

Before trying out other virus software you can investigate if you can change your current scanner to add exclusions of your projects folders and the jdev installation folders and the systemxx.xx.xx folder.

These are heavily in use (read and write) of many small files.
