Direct path load from Pro*C program

Hi,

With the OCI library it is possible to access the direct path load engine of the Oracle database server to perform the functions of the Oracle SQL*Loader utility (https://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci13obn.htm#g443680 ). Can you do it from a Pro*C program too?

Make a system() call to sqlldr, passing the parameter "direct=true".

Might be easier if you call a shell script with the sqlldr commands in it. (sqlldr.cmd for windows, sqlldr.sh for *NIX)... More flexible.

Use      "INSERT /*+ APPEND */ INTO <table> AS SELECT col1, col2,... FROM <another_table>...",

Or use "INSERT /*+ APPEND_VALUES */ INTO <table> (col1, col2,...) VALUES (999, 'some text',...);".

Both these hints advise Oracle to do direct path load without the need for sqlldr, if this is an option you could use.
