Java SE 11 ... Back to the question of free update policy

Java 11 (LTS) not free? What does this mean? Will the security patch updates that we received for earlier versions, ex java 8, no longer be available free of cost?

Post Oracle Java SE Support Roadmap

says N/A for Java SE 11 public updates and only available through premier support.

We need clearity on the below.

Will I get free updates to Java SE 11 similar to Java 8 ?

The table updated in one of the post says Java 11 SE updates N/A.

You will only get free updates to Oracles's Java 11 for 6 months.  You would then have to pay a support subscription fee.

    Alternatively you can:

    * move to Java 12 when it comes out on the same day as public updates for 11 ends

    * Use OpenJDK (OpenJDK == Java) from another vendor (AdoptOpenJDK, Red Hat, IBM, Azul etc)

    Thank you for the info.

    Extending the question,

Oracle Java SE no longer available for updates freely post 6 months of release.

Will this be applicable to Oracle JDK?

I do read that Oracle JDK 11 is free and continue to receive the public updates similar to JA SE 1.8.

Both the JRE (What I think you mean by Oracle Java SE) and JDK will not have free updates after 6 months.
