MYSQL background processes

Hi all ,

I am from the Oracle DB background.

Now my interest is to learn MYSQL database.

In  Oracle DB there are lots of background processes which serves different services.

So far i came to know about only - mysqld ( Linux/Unix ) .

So my question is , which background processes serves client connections , instance recovery , checkpoints , backup .. etc...
