I have issue in Mysql memory consumption. Mysql is utilizing high memory resources i.e more Virtual memory than Reserved memory. I have given good room for innodb_buffer_pool_size. though it is taking more than allocated. I have also done basic tuning like max connections, query cache, open file limit, max allowed packet etc.

. What version of mysql are you running?

. What OS are you running mysql on?

    . Is mysql performing well?

. What issue/errors are you facing?

. What detrimental effects is mysql having on the rest of the OS?

. Why are you concerned about high memory consumption?

. What actual problem are you trying to solve?

.What version of mysql are you running?

    Mysql version 5.7.21

. What OS are you running mysql on?

    Redhat Linux 7 x86_64

    . Is mysql performing well?

I don't see any issues apart from memory consumption by mysql process.

. What issue/errors are you facing?

    No other issues were noticed.

. Why are you concerned about high memory consumption?

Because it is eating up all the memory more than the allocated. Why does it take more than alloted. No backups, events etc running.

. What actual problem are you trying to solve?

I wanted to know, why Mysql is using more memory even no transactions are noticed. Its not dedicated Mysql server. There should be enough room for other process as well.

Can we see a copy of your config file? IS there anything in the log files suggesting a problem? IS the system swapping?
