We are happy to announce the availability of a brand new version of Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle ADF :

Version 12.2.1.1

While numbering wise this might seem like a very minor version, in reality there are a host of new features in this version that you can leverage in your applications. The features revolve around several key focus areas:

REST support

We added multiple capabilities to the "expose ADF Business Components as REST" functionality. This include features such as accessing multiple children objects,  better query capabilities, exposing list-of-values as REST and configuration and monitoring functions.

rest support

These type of enhancement allow you to better leverage the investment you have in the ADF based business service when creating new type of UIs with technologies that relies on REST backends. For example native mobile apps (with frameworks as Oracle MAF) or JavaScript based client solutions (with toolkits such as Oracle JET).

New Data Visualizations

Continuing our commitment to making your application the source of knowledge at your company, we added a bunch of new visualization components such as picto charts, tag cloud, stock chart and more. We also added features and capabilities to existing chart components.

These capabilities allow you to show data in meaningful ways, turning data into information that can be easily understood.

UI Technology Improvements

This version adds several capabilities to reduce and better control client to server interactions from your ADF Faces UI.

Features such as pure client-side input date component, client side caching for table component, and code editor component enhancements help you reduce network traffic and optimize your UI performance.

We also continue to improve our support for using ADF based UIs on mobile devices with more options in the masonry layout, gestures on springboards, and support for the MS Edge browser.

Extended Groovy Support

A feature that might have flew below the radar for many developers is the introduction of Groovy based triggers in ADF Business Components, making it simpler to code logic in specific hook-points in the lifecycle of your services. In the new version we further extend this support adding triggers at both the EOs and VOs level.

triggers

There are many other new features in this release (as well as various bug fixes from previous versions).

The full list of new features is here.

Time for you to download the new version and start planning your upgrade.

    Really nice to hear,

You did not mention ALTA UI skin, is there some improvements/bug fixes in this release?

  • Does the Mobile Application Framework have a new name?  I've installed this and cannot figure out how to do this:

    Oracle Mobile Application Framework Download

Oracle Mobile Application Framework is available through the development environment integration. Choose your preferred IDE:

    Oracle JDeveloper Studio Edition

After you install JDeveloper go to Help->Check for Update and choose to install the Oracle Mobile Application Framework.

As the JDeveloper download page indicates:

For development with the Oracle Mobile Application Framework (Oracle MAF) - Download Oracle JDeveloper 12.2.1.0

We'll be bringing the MAF extension into JDeveloper 12.2.1.1 in a future MAF update.

Thanks... I did not notice that extra .1 in the versioning (assumed they were the same version).  :/

Thanks, this is a huge improvement on speed and seems much more stable than 12.2.1.0 (particularly in Windows 10).  Like most new versions it takes a while to get used to the "Name changes" but I have been pleased with the results of all the work Oracle has done.  I like the junit being built in on this release.

We discovered an issue with the installer - we are working to fix this.

Once we have the updated installer we'll update the forum and the pages.

    Hallo Shay,

does the JDev version from Oracle Software Delivery Cloud works well? Or is it better to wait that Oracle releases the updated version through the official download page?

    Thanks, greetings,
    Federico

You get the same software as far as I can tell. There exist another download page Application Development Framework Downloads  with a small change in the URL which point to the old download page.

It's been over 2 months since the link was disabled. Is there an ETA for this. I need to download the latest windows 12c version of JDEV for an urgent project. I tried the E-Delivery route and I could only get the java install version.

Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c (12.2.1.2.0) JDeveloper Studio Generic is available. Download link imagejdeveloper12c.tif

The only difference between Generic and Platform-specific is that JDK is not included in the latter.

    Hello Shay,

I am facing issue in creating LOV for a View Attribute in a VO in ADF/ Jdev 12.2.1.2.

1.Created a Choice LOV for a Primary Key attribute in a VO using the same VO as the View Accessor. Issue is when I debug the BC4J tester I cannot execute the VO ,Tester is getting hung up. I don't see any errors in the log file.

    2. Created a Choice LOV for a Transient attribute in a VO using the same VO as the View Accessor. Issue is when I debug the BC4J tester I can execute the VO but I cant see the Choice LOV for the Transient attribute. I set the Transient attribute to Updatable Always though.

    3. Created a Input Text with LOV for a Transient attribute in a VO using the same VO as the View Accessor. Issue is when I debug the BC4J tester I can execute the VO but I cant see the Choice LOV for the Transient attribute. I set the Transient attribute to Updatable Always though.
And when I try for searching the List I get the error in "Object viewattr__List_IB_47 of type RowSetIterator for list source is not found.".

Unfortunately I cant reproduce the use case in my local environment where I am using Jdev 12.2.1.2,weblogic 12C which comes along with Jdev.Oracle DB is 11.2.0.1.0.

But this is reproducable in other environment which is having the same Jdev 12.2.1.2 and Weblogic 12C which comes along with Jdev.Using Oracle 11.2(remote server).

The issue is i cant create a LOV for any Updateble VO Attribute with same Updateble VO as View Accesor.

    Observation :
1.BC4J Tester gets freezed when i run/debug AppModule and execute the VO to check for Attributes LOV.
2.If i create a transient aatribute in Updateble VO and create a LOV for it using the same Updateble VO .After i run/debug the AppModule i can execute the VO but there is no LOV for it.

    Thanks
    Rajesh.

@TRRR Please stop asking the same question multiple times here (see Issue with LOV in Jdev 12.2.1.2). The document you have posted this question to has nothing to do wiht your problem (other than you use JDev). If you can't wait for help on hte public forum you can file a SR with support.oracle.com, payable suport contract needed. Here in the public section no SLA is attached.

    Ok Timo ,

    Noted .

  • The JDeveloper 12.2.1.2 page is back up.

I've been unable to run the latest JDeveloper installer (Windows 10 x64).  I've tried the generic installer with the latest Oracle JDK, and also a platform-specific install with no JDKs installed.  I urgently need JDeveloper for a MAF project.  Is this an appropriate place to post logs?  Or where should I go for support?

    Hi Friends,

I have one scenario like setting default Value for Query Based View object.

There is a dropdown it will display all years based on  some id the query is written below

    select FOR_YEAR FROM XYZ_CITIZC WHERE APPR_ID=:BINDVARIABLE

by executing the above query  2009,2010,2011,2012,2013,2014,2015,2016,2017,2018,2019,2020,2021 years will display

I am drag and drop  EVRVO(Query based View Object) as drop down in jsff page.

Here I am facing an issue like when I select 2016 year and click on save button the data  will persist in ABC_VARINC_YEAR (TABLE)

when user next time login I want to show the last user selected year(2016) as default value  in the drop down but I am geeting 2009 year by default. How to  solve this issue please give your suggestion

If it rejected please mention your comment.

  • Hi guys!

I've installed new version of Jdeveloper 12c and it's very dissapointing.

In my old Jdeveloper 11g I hadn't such issuies.

My problem - high cpu usage during typing.

Java, or XML or simple plain text. Looks like my computer is calculating some strong math.

Is any solution for this problem?

Or maybe you know how to run Jdeveloper 11g on 1.8 Java with no bugs?
