How to fix this error?
Answers

Why I am always getting raise_application_error(-20001,'Null parameter is passed.') whatever id is passed? Meaning above code execution.

Show your code instead of referring to someone else's. The code posted by RogerT works as expected.
-
create or replace procedure check_dept_existence(in_dep_id in hr.departments.department_id%TYPE) is l_count number; begin if in_dep_id is null then raise_application_error(-20001,'Null parameter is passed.'); end if; select count(*) into l_count from hr.departments where department_id = in_dep_id; if l_count = 0 then raise_application_error(-20002,'The department does not exist'); end if; end;
Let say I put 50 in test in _dep_id and I get that null parameter is passed but 50 value is not null

How do you call your procedure?
-
Hmm.... what does the code look like to test the procedure?

Output is
-
Ah...remove the colon
-
Output is empty after test

Yep ... that's what is expected.
