The next release of Forms continues to be developed along with the other Fusion Middleware components. It is planned to be packed with improvements that can be used to improve the appearance of your old school applications and create awesome new ones. Many other features are planned, but runtime UI is a key focus.

If you have feature suggestions, please share them here:

Although no committed date has been established at this time, the next release would likely not be available until the end of 2022 or sometime in 2023.

I had heard forms 12 was the final release and there is an end of support date in 2025. I cannot seem to find any information on an Oracle Forms and Reports 13. Does the release of a version 14 include a support date beyond 2025 and is there any estimate of that support date? I'd like to report back that 25 years of forms development work is NOT going to become unsupported in a few years.

@user1585758 I would certainly be interested in knowing from where you "heard" that v12 was the end of the product life.

The support dates for Fusion Middleware 12.2.1, which includes Forms, Reports, and many other technologies are as follows:

Premier Support through December 2023 / Extended Support through August 2025

The above dates may be changing soon (in your favor), so be sure to monitor the Lifetime Support Policy guide for the latest updates.

    https://www.oracle.com/us/assets/lifetime-support-middleware-069163.pdf

So what does all that mean... It means that v12 will eventually reach an end of life (support) and be replaced with a new major version (e.g. 14.x, etc). It does NOT mean that Forms (and Reports) will be gone. It simply means that you will eventually need to upgrade to a newer version if you want support.

For more information on where all of Fusion Middleware is heading, please read the following:

    https://www.oracle.com/a/ocom/docs/middleware/fusion-middleware-statement-of-direction.pdf

It should be noted that all the current plan does suggest that Oracle Reports will continue on the roadmap forward, migrating to BI Publisher (Analytics Publisher) is being recommended, as Reports has been deprecated and will no longer get new features/enhancements although it is planned to continue to be supported (in the latest versions as indicated by the LSP mentioned above).

Thank you for the quick response. The "heard" I referred to was the 2025 end of extended support from the document you referenced. I did not mean to imply it was end of life now, but 3 years is very soon when management is demanding an action plan because they believe this is ending the product support cycle. That is great that you will release forms 14 and continue support, I look forward to the upgrades!

Keep in mind that Forms (with FMW) 12.2.1 was first released on 2015. It has been seven years since that first version in the family. It's time for v12 to be phased out in favor of a new version. That is exactly what is planned. Typically, although not an obligation, we often try to allow for a 12-18 month overlap between the release of a new version and the most previous. This historical effort is the same plan we have for the next version. If the next release is delayed beyond a point where a 12-18 month overlap cannot occur, it is likely (but not guaranteed) that the LSP dates for the current version will be altered to accommodate the change.

To be clear, the Lifetime Support Policy guide provide available support dates for products that are available to customers. It is not a forward looking document or an indicator of what may or may not follow. As new versions are released, the LSP is updated to include them along with their unique support terms.

    Concerning Reports :

    https://docs.oracle.com/en/middleware/developer-tools/forms/12.2.1.4/releasenotes-fnr/deprecated-features.html#GUID-CAB70EB1-9436-4EFC-87E1-F2987F8E0299

    Deprecation Notice for Oracle Reports

Although included in this release, Oracle Reports has been deprecated as of Fusion Middleware 12c Release 2 (12.2.1.3.0).

No further development of Oracle Reports is planned for the future. If future releases are made available, Oracle is not planning any functional enhancements for Oracle Reports other than critical bug fixes and changes necessary to make it compatible with a new supporting technology stack. For more information, refer to the Reports Statement of Direction available here.

Oracle recommends migrating to Oracle BI Publisher for reporting purposes. Oracle BI Publisher is Oracle’s strategic product for enterprise reporting. This reporting solution allows authoring, managing, and delivering pixel-perfect customer facing reports against various data sources with web browser or familiar desktop tools.

@Eusebius Reports has been deprecated for a very long time, however it wasn't until recently (12.2.1.3) that we made more of concrete statement indicating as such. In fact, sometime in 2009 (six years before 12 was released) we stated (in a Statement of Direction for "Application Development Tools") that our plans were to deprecate Reports. At that time is was just a "plan" and we just never formally stated that we did in fact deprecate it until 12.2.1.3 (2018).

So, with that in mind I can say that everyone has had approximately 13 years unofficial and approximately 4 years of official notice that moving to BIP is the recommended migration path.

It has not been desupported at this time, nor are there plans to do so at this time. This doesn't mean ignore the warning. At minimum, your organization should be devising a plan to migrate or risk being without support at some point in the future. Again, there are no plans to desupport and we may never, but are you prepared to gamble with what "might" happen when you have already been given a clue?
