Error in downloading Java - Error: Expected ")"

I uninstalled java then went to java.com and clicked the link to install current version but I keep getting a Script Error. It says:
Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: Expected ")"
Code: 0
URL:
Do you want to continue using scripts on this page? (Y/N option)
I tried restarting my computer, turning off my firewall, downloading the offline version, tried the online version, both 32 bit and 64 bit versions, and an older version of Java but every time I still get the same error.
EDIT: Even though I only have 1 account on this computer I made a second account, gave it admin rights then logged into it and downloaded java from the java.com website and it worked first try. Then went back to my main account and deleted the second account. No idea why this worked though.

I am having this problem also - any solutions folks?

I am having exactly the same error as the first user above.
I have explored a whole range of options
https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-fix-an-error-has-occurred-in-a-script-on-this-page
https://www.techbout.com/an-error-has-occurred-in-the-script-on-this-page-62912/
Eventually I set up a new user account as an administrator and that worked also.

I'm also having a lot of issues and still haven't found a fix

I had this exact same problem and after visiting this site I saw the suggestion about creating a new user account as administrator that really works. I just successfully downloaded and installed JDK 8 u341 so BIG TIME THANK YOU!
