INST-07545 Error installing JDeveloper
This is the first time I am trying to install this product. I am a professor and wanted to evaluate this tool for my class. I usually use Eclipse. I was a JBuilder Instructor back in the day when Borland had it. Now that Oracle has it and it became JDeveloper I wanted to see if it was appropriate for college instruction.

JDeveloper is not the new JBuilder.
Which JDK did you use to install JDev?
You can't use openJDK to install or run JDev. Please read the release notes and check the exact JDK version to use.

It was my understanding Oracle acquired Jbuilder and renamed it Oracle Forms. Then redeveloped it as JDeveloper?
I have JDK 18.0.1.1
I downloaded JDev from the Oracle site, I am assuming it is the latest version. Oracle JDeveloper Studio Edition 12.2.1.4.0
I was using the Oracle Universal installer to install JDev. I have not opened JDev as it has not been installed. The error is happening during installation. (hence the photo)

For starters, please verify all requirements are ok in terms of software compatibility. The Java version seems to be off. Update 191 is needed.

JDK 18.x is too new :( The installer for JDEv needs JDK 1.8.0_191+ as does running JDev itself. JDev still waits for an update to a newer JDK version.
