Hi All

I installed 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows. My system is Windows XP - 2002 SP2.

While installing, I got an error message. - "Registary Entry disabled". But the installation proceeded and I hope sucessful. Can some one tell me

* Why do we need a registary entry?
* What happens if I proceed without registary entry?
* Is there anything I can do now?(ofcourse without re-installing the entire 10g again)?

Thanks in advance

Warm regards

When installing on windows platforms it is important (an absolutely must) to be able to write to the Windows Registry. Information about how the Oracle home gets configured, as well as the Oracle Services to be configured is recorded at the windows registry. Unfortunately Oracle on windows is not like oracle on Unix, where it is enough to have the binaries installed plus a few root privileged files.

If your installation hasn't cleanly finished I strongly suggest you to verify your user permissions, you must install Oracle with administrator privileges or your oracle installation is not guaranteed to work.
