Help with Remote Connection
Hello
New to Jdeveloper and Oracle. I need help with the following:
I have Installed Oracle 11g Express Edition on a windows VPS. Instalation went smoothly.
I have jdeveloper installed on my personal PC and I am trying to access and establish a connection to the Oracle Database on the windows VPS but I am getting the following error: Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
I would appreciate any help on the matter.

If yes try to connect with e.g. SQL Developer.
Show us hte connect string you use (without the password)

I can't ping the VPS. I get Request timed out, but I do know its online because I can RDP to it. Could it be a firewall issue?

Might be. As long as you can't ping the machine I guess you can't connect.

Hi user
turn off your system fire wall
then open your system's command prompt and ping to server
if it pinged then establish your connection
