Oracle Database and Instant Client 12.2 are now available

Oracle Database 12.2 is now available on select platforms!: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
Instant Client is similarly available e.g. on Linux x64 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linuxx86-64soft-092277.html
This release of Instant Client adds Data Pump & SQL*Loader to the 'Tools' package.
OCI new features are in the OCI doc: http://docs.oracle.com/database/122/LNOCI/release-changes.htm#LNOCI005 (Database-side new features are listed in http://docs.oracle.com/database/122/NEWFT/toc.htm)

Thanks for the details cj.

I'm trying to use the OCCI SDK with Visual Studio 2017. There are two lib versions, one apperantly for VC14 i.e. Visual Studio 2015. I get an exception on the createEnvironment() call. Is it suited for Visual Studio 2017?

Check table 3-3 "Windows x64 Software Requirements" in the "Oracle® Database Client Installation Guide 12c Release 2 (12.2) for Microsoft Windows" manual for the officially supported list.

Thanks for the ansqwer, cj!
This document states that Visual Studio 2013 (i.e. vc12 ) is the latest supported version.
In the SDK package
http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/instantclient/122010/instantclient-sdk-windows.x64-12.2.0.1.0.zip
I'm seing directories /msvc/ and /msvc/vc14 in the libs directory.
vc14 indicates that it is suited for Visual Studio 2015.
What's up with that?

I have a similar question for OCI (instead of OCCI).
The 12.2 compiler requirements for OCI are: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1, Microsoft Visual C++ 2012, Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Update 2, and Intel 12.2 C
Are there any plans to support the Visual Studio 2015 compiler (and VS 2017) for OCI in a Oracle 12 release?
Thanks,
Nils

We are now at Oracle RDBMS 12.1.0.2 and using the 12.1 Client on our application servers, and also use ODAC. I'd like to upgrade to RDBMS 12.2. Will the 12.1 client be sufficient, and are there any changes to ODAC and ODP.Net?
Thank you in advance for your insights,
Sherrie

@SherrieK It's best to check with the owners of ODAC & ODP.Net: Try posting at
