Instant client: Cannot connect through ODBC - ORASPAWN.DLL missing
Hello,
I have a problem with Oracle instant client.
I installed instant client (instantclient-basic-nt-12.2.0.1.0.zip - just necessary binaries) and additional odbc libraries (instantclient-odbc-nt-12.2.0.1.0-2.zip) to some custom folder.
OLE DB access works correctly but I have also some old app (32bit) which connects from ADO.NET through OLE DB to ODBC adapter and this does not work for me.
ODBC is installed and found but while debugging I found it is looking for some strange library I can't find in any of your package: ORASPAWN.DLL
It looks like it fails just after this dll is not found but I'm not absolutely sure about it.
Should this library be part of instant client when used through ODBC? What is the purpose of this library?
If it is really not needed, why is it asking for that library?
Please help, I'm stuck on this.
Regards,
Jan

You should probably be using compents fro the 32 bit ODAC library:

32-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC)
with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual StudioODAC 12.2c Release 1 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (12.2.0.1.1)
