Passing a parameter to XML-output via Oracle Reports

Hi,

I have created a parameter (P_FREETEXT) in an already existing Oracle Reports file.

The parameter is defined as Character 240

When I add the parameter to a Query a field is created with name P_FREETEXT1. This filed has with set to 32, and I'm not able to alter it.

So, my question is - how can I make the field 240 wide.

The field is only going on the XML-output from the report.

Thanks

Roy

My unsophisticated solution is to use a decode in the query like so:

    ,decode(:P_FREETEXT, '¤¤NOTæøåHAPPENING¤¤',rpad(:P_FREETEXT,240,' '),:P_FREETEXT) P_FREETEXT1

But I was hoping there could be a better way of doing this :-)
