SQLDeveloper is unforgiving, freezes everynow and then

If you made a mistake, in join or match a character db field to a number field, latest version ( Build 063.0100), of SQLDeveloper takes a very long time uses large amount of RAM 2GB+, before returning an error.

While memory and freezing issues existed right from beginning, SQLDeveloper taking a long time to return an error, when syntax or other issues, is a first.

Any workaround, please?

Update: Closing SQLDeveloper and reopening results in 1GB+ RAM and relatively shorter response time to error SQL

on the ram, try Java 11 or 17 - will be much better than 8...or even GraalVM 11 JDK

I need to hear more on the 'if you made mistake' part - do you mean if you screw up and run a query that takes 20 minutes to execute and returns a billion rows, SQL Dev gets cranky?
