ADF Rich Client Support & License

Hi everybody,

Please we need the answer to 2 questions:

- Oracle will support those components, I mean, We or our clients will able to buy support from Oracle for ADF Rich Client components.

- When Oracle will release ADF Rich Client components ?

    Hi,

    1 - yes, for customers that have a support contract
    2 - production release should be out on OTN by next week or the week after

    Will the ADF Rich Client component libraries be usable outside the scope of JDeveloper (similar to what you might do with Trinidad)? We currently use Trinidad components, and are very, very interested in upgrading to use ADF Rich Client components.

    And to reiterate the earlier question - a support contract is required in order to use the ADF RC framework?

    ADF Faces RC is just a set of JSF components so if you take the right JARs you can use them in any IDE.
    You don't have to have a support license to use them either - it is just an option you have to buy support for them.
    However - right now ADF Faces RC are part of the ADF framework and under the same license terms - read more here:

    But the "FAQ - Oracle JDeveloper and ADF 11g" says:
    How do I know if I need an TopLink and ADF runtime license?
    You will need to be licensed for a production deployment of ADF if you are using any of the following features:
    Oracle TopLink

    * ADF Business Components
    * ADF Model layer databinding
    * ADF Faces Component
    * ADF Swing
    * ADF UIX User interface components
    * ADF Actions / Datapages for Struts
    So, no "support license" required, but you do need a "runtime license"?

    By the way, the "ADF UIX User interface components" mentioned here, are those the same as those mentioned in the "Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.0): Desupported and Deprecated Features" document as
    "The ADF UIX components were deprecated in JDeveloper 10g ... and are no longer supported in 11g ..." ?

    So, no "support license" required, but you do need a "runtime license"?
    Exactly as I said above the support license is an optional thing you can decide to buy or not - the runtime license is something you have to have either by running on a licensed Oracle WebLogic Server or by buying the ADF/TopLink runtime license.

    And yes UIX is no longer supported in 11g.
