I have system in which when user connected to server, the server mantain a file containing user name and password,if the user is valid the server add user in that file. when usr disconnected i want to delete that specific user from the file how can i do it.
Finding specific user in file the deleteing that line.
plz help.

The cleanest way of doing this is probably to use JDBC (Java Catabase Connectivity).

I meant to write 'Database'.

I agree, best to use a database, however for a small number of users, why not use an object containing a vector, then using the inbuilt methods, to search the vector to remove users. If you need this to be written to the file system on the server for an external program to read or something then you would need another method to write the contents of the vector to a file, and just call that method to overwrite the file everytime a new user joined.
