Can Oracle 11g RAC support 2 separate databases?

745782Jan 11 2010 — edited May 27 2010
1. Can Oracle 11g RAC support 2 separate databases given that it asks for SCAN ip for cluster with a single Listener port number?
2. Will the Oracle 11.2 database connections work successfully if I setup a mandatory DNS server within the Oracle RAC servers?
I'm leading a team for a 11g project and appreciate responses.
Thanks
Satish.

i serched the registry for FORMS_PATH and it's not there. assuming I have to make a fresh entry where does it go?

It goes in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_DevSuiteHome or whatever you named your DevSuiteHome.
At runtime it goes in the default.env or whatever env file you are deployed with.

thanks

if I put :

C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\project\fmb;C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\project\pll

in FORMS_PATH as you suggest the fmb still can't find it's pll (with fmb in fmb folder, pll in pll folder)

Yes, I re-started form builder.

what am I missing?

Ok from evrythign else I've read I should be changing an already existing Key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_DevSuiteHome

which I don't have.

I created one and added FORMS_PATH as advised, but it still dosn't work.

why o why is there no key?
Rosario Vigilante
I believe that Forms_PATH should be already existing.

Have you checked in :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_DevSuiteHome1

KEY_DevSuiteHome1 = KEY_<ORACLE_HOME>

Thanks,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_DevSuiteHome1 didn't exist.

I created it and added the FORMS_PATH entry but with no success.

The only location I can put plls etc and the form will detect them is :

.. DevSuiteHome1/Forms/

??

I too had faced similar issue , but rebooting the machine did the trick for me after adding/Updating the FORMS_PATH in the registry.

Is there any way to set it at runtime without altering registry ?
I need it on order to compile different projects using a generic script.
Tks
