    OTL Timecard - Holiday Explosion Problem

    746627
      There was a bad experience with timecard explosions at the beginning of the month of January 2010. The pay period is setup for twice a month (1st of the month to the 15th and 16th to the end of the month). The earning policy is setup weekly overtime: Regular 40 hours, Overtime 999 hours. Three earning types are setup in the earning group to calculate overtime: Regular, Holiday, and Vacation. The Holiday earning type is associated to the Holiday Calendar.

      Users were getting this error for the week of New Years (12/27/09 - 1/2/10) if they earned overtime for the week:

      The system could not adjust for the amount of overtime as defined by the rules. The overtime will need to be manually calculated and the appropriate hours type entered.

      It worked as expected for the week of Christmas (12/20/09 - 12/26/09). The system had to be changed to allow users to manually enter their overtime. It was a pain making sure users did not abuse manual overtime entry. Oracle EBS 11.5.10 is being used. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone have any insight to where I can track the problem too? Thanks.

          Check your setup, looks like there is more than one element with earning category of regular hours. Only one element used in the Earning Policy definition can have an Earning Category of Regular Hours.

            I looked in 2 different locations for an extra Regular Hours.

            HRMS Manager:
            Total Compensation > Basic > Element Description >Further Information > Earnings

            Regular = Regular
            Overtime = Overtime
            Holiday = Regular Non-worked
            Vacation = Regular Non-worked

            OTL Application Developer:
            OTL Time Accounting > Element Time Information > Earnings Category

            Regular = Regular Earning
            Overtime = Overtime Earning
            Holiday = Absence Earning
            Vacation = Absence Earning

            Is there another place that I should look?

              Check the earning category of all the elements included in Alternate name setup.

                  Check if the hours type you are booking against is of time overtime earnings.
