Missing or invalid version of SQL Library PSORA with 8.50

    731258
Although unsupported, I am trying to get a HCM 9.1 on PT 8.50.05 running on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro laptop. Running 11.1.0.7 Windows 2008 64 bit Oracle. I installed the 32 bit Oracle 11.1.0.7 client for Win2008 also.

Every thing seems OK until I try to start an App Server domain. I can login two-tier via PS. I can connect sqlplus with SYSADM and people. I ran the VERSION AE process without incident. Datamover runs fine with PS and bootstrap.

When I try to boot my domain, I get the "Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0)" error. In stderr file it notes "LoadLibraryA() in pscompat.dll failed for 'PSORA.dll': reason=126".

I have the path to my 32bit client files within the app servers' AddtoPath setting. I even tried using the UseLocalOracleDB settings but that didn't help either.

Any of you smart folks have any suggestions (aside from using a Supported OS and calling Oracle support)?

Well, not only Peoplesoft issue, but Oracle database issue. Oracle has not yet delivered the database software for Windows 7.
Whether Peopletools 8.50 is fully 64bit compliant, it must use 32bit Oracle client libraries on Windows... understand who can. Anyway, it seems you are trying to use the 32bit libraries from within the Appserver configuration file, right ? Did you reconfigure the domain after modification ?
I already installed and ran same config on W2k8 without problem. Did you have a look into the appserver log ?

I set the app server log fence to 5 and it still doesn't provide any real insight. Sorry if this i little long:

I got it. I think the 11g installer is a bit different. To correct and get my App server domain booted, I needed to copy all the files from
              C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_1 folder to the C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_1\BIN

I think PSORA.dll specifically looks for oci.dll and other files here. Might just be able to copy key files but I don't have the time to determine which ones.

Chris - you are a brave soul trying to do this on Windows 7. Have you thought about using the delivered Window 7s VM Tool and install an image with a supported OS and go from there?

Hmmm, that's rather weird, maybe it is coming from your own installation.

I think you are correct. I tried again and all files were present. Initally for the 32bit client install, I accidently kept the default option to do the "Instant Client" install. I later went back an re-ran with the "Administrative Tools" install. Maybe something got messed up that way. A shame as it spent a bit of time on that issue.

8.50 on Windows 7 has been suprising easy so far. I did look into the new Oracle VM downloads but decided to stick with the devil I know. That fact that the Oracle VM host machine runs direclty on the hardware with no host O/S turned me off. I am working with a stand alone laptop not a server and client(s) machines.

There are others possibilities than Oracle VM. You could install any virtual software on top of your Windows host, "VMWare server" for instance (it is free of charge), create a virtual machine, install OEL (Oracle Entreprise Linux, it is free of charge), then install Peoplesoft into that one.
Your main OS will remain Windows 7, then you can start your guest OS whenever you want or need it for your Peoplesoft training or study exactly like if it was a remote server.

                        Chris C,

Could you please summarize your configuration and extra undocumented steps taken to have PeopleSoft working on Windows 7.

That will really help me in my install process.

                        Regards

To install Oracle Enterprise Linux, do you need both Source and the other executible (just saw that there were two different things on the Oracle download site), one just mentioned some cryptic name like _x66... while the other said source. Kinda confused, about what i would need on windows 7.

Unless you want to rewrite or re-compile OEL, you should leave "source" and download only the ready to install cd/dvd.
For instance : Enterprise Linux Release 5 Update 4 for x86_64 (64 Bit) - DVD which means OEL 5.4 64bit

Thank you. I apprecite your prompt response. Would i have to ftp the install files, once i have installed enterprise Linux on Windows 7 ?

                              Thanks in advance.

Or the simplest way, and space safer, is to share a NFS point between your host OS and your guest OS for the Peoplesoft installer binaries.

Does that require any additional software ? How do i go about it on windows 7 host and linux guest. Sorry, don't mean to be too demanding, but need your advice and blessings to get this install started. Thank you

You could do a NFS mount with Cygwin
                                    http://gasparotto.blogspot.com/2007/12/on-peoplesoft-road-cygwin-xclient-and.html
                                    Or just share a directory
                                    http://kamranagayev.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/mount-windows-folder-on-linux/
I don't know if both solutions are working under Windows 7 though, but you could have a try.

                                    Nicolas.
