SmartView is looking for the response that Planning typically sends when you give it the Planning URL.
If you can get your load balancer to provide that same output (which would come from one of the Planning servers) then SmartView should accept that connections.

In Data Source Manager, select 'All' for views
Right click on 'Oracle Hyperion Planning' and select 'Add'
Select 'Oracle Hyperion Planning'
Type in a short name
Enter a URL which when you browse to it shows: "Hyperion Planning Server for SmartView"
Enter admin and admin's passwod.
Once you have done this procedure people selecting 'All' in data source manager should see the configured data source.

This is the URL I use: "https://ABCx/HyperionPlanning/SmartView" and get the following info when I access this URL via an IE browser session:
Hyperion Planning Server for SmartView
Smartview Installer Version: 220.127.116.11.00
When I try to use this same URL in setting up the connection as you have indicated using an administration account I get the following error:
"Please check if the Server / URL you provided is correct and the server is up an running"
Planning is up as I use the normal planning app URL (https://ABCx/HyperionPlanning/)
What am I doing wrong?
I have issue with my SmartView. I am running SmartView, essbase and planning 18.104.22.168
Everything is running fine until one of my user download SmartView 22.214.171.124 and set up a shared connection to my provider services server.
Not only it doesn't work, saying that the URL is not valid, however, it wipe out the Oracle Hyperion Planning option when you try to add new connection in Common Provider Connection.
Is there any utility or setting that I should change to add the Oracle Hyperion Planning option back to my tree in SmartView 126.96.36.199?
I also see my provider service server under Oracle Essbase tree and i cannot remove it, connect to it.
However My connection to my real essbase server seems to be fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If what this thread states
Re: Connection smart-view 188.8.131.52 to Hyperion 184.108.40.206
still rings true then it looks like Shared Connections will not work if using a newer Smartview version with older Planning version....
