How to install weblogic in opensolaris

Hi all,

I am trying to install weblogic application server in open solaris 0906 version. The installation process is terminating abruptly giving an error says
"A fatal error has occurred. This application will terminate.Clean up process in progress ..." . I was trying to get the logs but there nothing in the install directory, Not even extracted files...

Any clues how to succeed in this .

By the way i am trying to install from a jar file downloaded from " http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/wls_main.html "

Thanks,
John

    John,
could you specify which WLS and JDK version do you use? For WLS 10.3.2 it should be JDK 1.6.0_11 or later. Also be sure that you use a real JDK, no JRE or GCJ.

Works for me. Only difference is that I start it explicitly with *$JAVA_PATH/java -jar wls1032_generic.jar -mode=console*

I installed the JDK as root and run the WLS installation and even the configuration wizard as oracle user. I also run opensolaris x86.

    Olaf,

I was using the JDK(jdk1.6.0) which is already installed in the PC. You said you installed JDK as root, did you downloaded any other version from oracle site? If so can you please suggest me the version.

    FYI....

    john@opensolaris:/usr/jdk/jdk1.6.0_13/bin$ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.3-b02, mixed mode)

    Thanks,
    John

Use java -version to get version information of the installed JDK.

I have downloaded the latest version (JDK 1.6.0_18) from java.sun.com.

For which platform did you downloaded Solaris X64 or Solaris X86?

Since I am using Opensolaris x86, I downloaded it for Solaris x86.

    Hi John,
    this sounds a bit strange.

    My procedure is as follows:-
    - Download jdk-6u18-solaris-i586.sh from java.sun.com
    - Install it as root in */opt/java*
    - Switch back to normal user
    - Download wls1032-generic.jar from OTN
    - Install it with */opt/java/jdk1.6.0_18/bin/java -jar wls1032-generic.jar -mode=console* and accept defaults. (was my very lazy night, last night)
