Oracle TMS - Dictionary load vs upgrade.

    573605
      Hello All,

I am using TMS version 4.6.1.

      Please answer questions:

What is a difference between dictionary load and upgrade?

What is a process of upgrade?

In which situation do we upgrade the dictionary?

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As per my understanding, dictionary will be upgraded if current version of dictionary loaded in TMS is 11.0 and new version required for coding in 11.1, whereas if new version required for coding in 12.0, then we will load (NOT upgraded) this as a new base dictionary.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Thanks!

Our practice is upgrading TMS base dictionary. Once the study is completed (db lock), you make a snapshot which will be the coding dictionary for that study.

What is a difference between dinctionary load and upgrade?

When you say snapshot are referring to Virtual dictionary?

            Is this defintion correct:

Upgrade: New dictionary will be base and previous version will become virtual.

Load: New dictionary will be loaded as another base dictionary.

Can there be multiple base dictionaries? If yes, how many?

We maintain only one base dictionary and have not had the needs for different base dictionaries.

A snapshot is a virtual dictionary. I mix use the term unintentionally because I am a dba and study builder

I like to use 'load' which means loading new version of meddrua or whodrug into base dictionary. I guess you can call it 'upgrade' as well since the base dictionary is changed. But I like to reserve the team 'upgrade' to software not database content.

              Thanks
