Question concerning Long Mode Compatibility

772141May 10 2010 — edited May 12 2010
Just tried to install Oracle Enterprise Linux v5.5 (64 bit) in a VM (Parallels v9) in Mac OS running Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and I'm receiving this message:

Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution.

My VM software supports the following 64 bit Guest OS:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x
CentOS Linux 5.0
Fedora Linux 10, 9, 8
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2, 9 SP3
OpenSUSE Linux 11.x, 10.x
Ubuntu Linux 8.x, 7.x
Mandriva Linux 2009, 2008, 2007

Is there a custom setting I can use (installer boot options) that would mirror RHEL 5.x or do I simply need to either:

a) Get a 32 bit media pack of OEL
b) Install RHEL 5.x 64 bit

I have also installed OpenSUSE 11.x in 64 bit with no issues on the same hardware/vm.

Thanks!
