Dude! Jun 6, 2010 12:27 PM (in response to 776896)Just select ignore these errors. OEL/RHEL uses different package names than Ubuntu, so it can't find them. -

691475 Jun 29, 2010 12:09 AM (in response to Dude!)Thank you very very much.
Got the same problem in a 32bits Ubuntu and your solution was the perfect start to fix it.
I just needed to set libstdc++.so.5 so the corrected steps were the following (in case someone else uses a 32bit arquitecture).
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gcc-3.3/libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_i386.deb
dpkg-deb -x libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_i386.deb ia-libs
cp ia-libs/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5.0.7 /usr/lib
cd /usr/lib
ln -sf libstdc++.so.5.0.7 libstdc++.so.5 -

You are a lifesaver. I followed your instructions to install all the pre-requisite packages, and it worked like a charm!

722205 Aug 15, 2010 2:01 AM (in response to Dude!)I like these instructions.
I am on 32bit not 64 bit.
So I am still seeing problems.
I posted details here:
New Install: dbca problem on ubuntu 10.04
summary:

But, dbca gives me this:

12. Re: Installing Oracle 11g R2 on Ubuntu 10.04
rwsBertman Oct 27, 2010 12:04 AM (in response to Dude!)Thank you so very much for posting this walkthrough!
I encountered an error as the installer was copying files:
File not found
*/oracle/app/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb/external/oc4j_applications/applications/WFMLRSVCApp.ear*
Any idea why this is happening?
