As indicated in the error message, on each occasion it ran out of disk space in some tablespace.1 person found this helpful
You may want to use BIGFILE tablespaces to avoid such issues.

I still cannot understand something : How could it run out of disk space and then stop sending the error and work it out ?
I am sure no data has been deleted in between.
It is a bit unclear indeed. But here is a possibility (unless the tablepace was extended prior to the retry):
When multiple parallel processes are working on a query, each requires some sort space. If N of them are active at the same time and using their max sort space requirements, the total sort space needed may be beyond what is available in temp tablespace. But, if we never reach that point either because some of the parallel processes either finish early or have not reached the point where they need their max sort spaces, then we may not hit this out of space error.
Again, an easy way to avoid this problem would be to either use BIGFILE tablespaces or allocate enough space for the relevant tablespaces.
