    Strange file permission for TSAM

    Mats Ulvedal
Hi, is it only I who have strange file permission after a TSAM install?

"Other" either have read write (can live without) or execute.

It's very easy to fix but, if someone forget it the ULOG is drained with messages frpm libtmagent.

      Regards
      Mats

          Hi Mats,

What files specifically have these "strange" file permissions and what version of TSAM are you using? I'm also not following your comment about the ULOG? Are you saying you have to change some permissions to get things working correctly?

          Regards,

            Hi Todd,

In Tuxedo 11g lib there is two files who has after install of Tuxedo and TSAM

            The TSAM library itself

            drwxr-x--- 7 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 tsam11gR1

            And all below
            drwxr-x--- 2 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 bin
            drwxr-x--- 3 mats users 4096 18 aug 20.14 deploy
            drwxr-x--- 3 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 inventory
            drwxr-x--- 6 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 jdk
            drwxr-x--- 2 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.58 uninstall_tsam11gR1

            And in Tuxedo

            drwxr-x--- 2 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 bin
            drwxr-x--- 2 mats users 4096 6 apr 18.53 cobinclude
            drwxr-x--- 4 mats users 4096 6 apr 18.53 help
            drwxr-x--- 8 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 include
            drwxr-x--- 3 mats users 4096 6 apr 18.53 inventory
            drwxr-x--- 8 mats users 4096 2 mar 2007 jre
            drwxr-x--- 2 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 lib
            drwxr-x--- 6 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 locale
            drwxr-x--- 6 mats users 4096 6 apr 18.58 samples
            -rw-r----- 1 mats users 571 6 apr 18.53 tux.env
            drwxr-x--- 9 mats users 4096 17 apr 22.57 udataobj
            drwxr-x--- 3 mats users 4096 6 apr 18.54 uninstaller
            drwxrwxr-x 3 mats users 4096 6 apr 18.58 uninstall_salt

Yes, we have to change perm after install so other user than owner one can use it.
I have to come back to you with exact match of the ULOG entry, but it was something with LIB_GPCAT , pif and libtmagent.so
If I remember right it appears for each server.

No problem in Tuxedo 10.3, that's why I havent noticed before.

            Regards
            Mats

            Ps.

We have the same problem with WebLogic 11g, which is also creating a lot of problem for us.

              Mats,

It is changed in purpose in 11g to enforce stricter security control.

                Jared,

I was afraid for that. The thing is that we since early medieval times have a runtime user (and group) for each domain we have.

With Tuxedo (and SALT, TSAM) it easy to change, which I have to do now. But we do have a lot bigger problem with Weblogic after you change this, but that is not my problem (I'm glad).

                Regards
                Mats

                Ps.

I do not find anything of that in Realese Notes, or am I blind (happens before)?
