    Oracle EBS 11i -java memory utilization problem

    Ranjith
      Hi all,

      We installed Oracle EBS 11i (Multi node installation) in Two Hp-ux Pa-Risc systems.
      We started all service and EBS was working normally for initial 10 mins.

      During this 10 min, i'll accessing Oracle Application Manager to access few html based pages as well as form based pages. After 10 mins, one particular Java process which is started by iAS (/u01/oracle/visora/iAS/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd) is consuming lot of CPU. Pls look at the top output.

      CPU TTY PID USERNAME PRI NI SIZE RES STATE TIME %WCPU %CPU COMMAND
      1 ? 3255 oracle 152 20 794M 204M run 10:19 100.91 100.73 java

      Even restarting the services, this particular process was not stopped but the iAS (/u01/oracle/visora/iAS/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd) was stopped and still consumes lot of CPU.

      Please let me know, how to debug this issue.

      Thanks fro Ur help..

          Welcome to the forums !

          Pl post the server specs (CPU, RAM etc) for the two servers.

          Are you saying that restarting the services does not kill the httpd process ?

          Are you experiencing performance issue in 11i ?

              Hi srini,

              Thanks.

              My configuration follows

              In Database Tier*
              CPU info:
              1 PA-RISC 8800 processor (800 MHz, 32 MB)
              CPU version 4
              2 logical processors (2 per socket)

              Memory: 4094 MB (4 GB)

              In Application Tier*
              CPU info:
              1 PA-RISC 8800 processor (800 MHz, 32 MB)
              CPU version 4
              2 logical processors (2 per socket)

              Memory: 4094 MB (4 GB)

              And Both are HP-UX PA-RISC 11.31

              2.No After restsrating services Httpd process was killed. But one of java process, which was started by httpd and consumes lot of CPU, is not Killed.

              3.yes First ten Mins its working well. After that only Performance slow down and hanged.

              Thanks ,

                Hi Gurus,

                In my case the below JAVA processes running on CM node are consuming high amount of Memory and CPU :

                applmgr 10256 8277 0 00:09:55 ? 3:33 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626558 -Dlogfile=
                applmgr 10161 10035 0 00:09:39 ? 2:33 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626555 -Dlogfile=
                applmgr 9035 8277 0 00:07:55 ? 2:09 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626542 -Dlogfile=
                applmgr 10032 8277 0 00:09:30 ? 2:15 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626554 -Dlogfile=
                applmgr 9275 8277 0 00:08:03 ? 2:53 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -mx512m -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626543 -D
                applmgr 8867 8277 0 00:07:47 ? 5:06 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626541 -Dlogfile=
                applmgr 10503 10259 0 00:10:04 ? 2:29 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626559 -Dlogfile=
                applmgr 10206 8277 0 00:09:47 ? 6:50 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626557 -Dlogfile=

                I found that all these JAVA Processes are spawned by FNDSM (parent process).

                Please suggest what are these JAVA Process and how to control the resource utilization by them.

                Regards,
                Amit Garg

                    Thanks Hussien for your reply.

                    I have already gone through this Note but this is not applicable in our case since the Note talks about Java 1.6 but in we have Java 1.5 :

                    $ which java
                    /opt/java1.5/bin/java
                    $ java -version
                    java version "1.5.0.09"
                    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0.09-_18_aug_2007_07_52)
                    Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0.09 jinteg:08.18.07-06:57 PA2.0 (aCC_AP), mixed mode)
                    $

                    Also I can see three FNDSM Processes running in our Env (not sure why 3):

                    $ ps -fu applmgr|grep FNDSM |grep -v grep
                    applmgr 10035 1 0 00:09:30 ? 0:00 FNDSM
                    applmgr 10259 1 0 00:09:55 ? 0:00 FNDSM
                    applmgr 8277 1 0 00:07:14 ? 3:09 FNDSM
                    $
                    $ ps -fu applmgr|grep Ddbcfile
                    applmgr 10256 8277 0 00:09:55 ? 3:54 /opt/java1.5/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -Ddbcfile=/eb_rdo0_p/applmgr/pnoltpappl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/pnoltp.dbc -Dcpid=2626558 -Dlogfile=

                      Hi,

                      Do you have proper entries in FND_NODES table?

                      Please stop the CM, run cmclean.sql script, start the CM and check then (you may relink FNDSM before starting the CM).

                      Thanks,
                      Hussein
