    Basic Authentication

The web.xml for the ApEx Listener sets up basic authentication for the Admin and Manager roles for the administration and status pages (and a few other things). Has anyone tried setting up basic authentication in web.xml for other URLs that lead to PL/SQL procedures?

I know that if you are using the listener specifically for ApEx, then ApEx itself can do authentication, and you don't really need to do it from the JEE framework. But I'm not running ApEx applications.

I've written some reports as PL/SQL Server Pages, and I'd like to call them from inside an ADF application. This works fine with the ApEx Listener serving up the pages, but now I'd like to get the REMOTE_USER CGI environment variable set so that the page knows who is running the report, and what that person is allowed to see.
