I can only speculate, but maybe that function depends on an environment variable that isn't set when you run the code as a service. (TEMP/TMP might be candidates).
Thanks for your reply but this doesnt help :(.
Both System environment variables are set to C:\Windows\Temp.
Both User environment variables are set to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp.
Also i confirmed that both these directories exist on the workstation.
I found the solution. The windows service should run as the windows administrator and it works well then.
