javax.comm IOException: Not all params are supported by kernel

Is there any definitive solution to the problem posted here?
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=673793

This is an old post so maybe someone found a better solution.

I'm also encountering that problem on a Debian machine:

java.io.IOException: Not all params are supported by kernel
at com.sun.comm.LinuxSerial.nativeSetSerialPortParams(Native Method)
at com.sun.comm.LinuxSerial.setFlowControlMode(LinuxSerial.java:374)
...

I tried all the patches described in the old post but none seemed to work. The weird thing is that the same program runs just fine under Ubuntu.

Thanks for your time,

Daniel.

What version of Ubuntu are you using?
I'm getting this same error with javax.comm version 3.0 and Ubuntu 8.04. I haven't tried it with Windows XP yet.

The problem is that not all the parameters are supported by the kernel. The solution is not to use the ones that aren't. Changing the kernel changes the set of supported parameters. Surely this is obvious?
