    telnet in java

    807600
      hi,
Is it possible to get the network device name (canonical name, vendor name) using telnet in JAVA.

scenario => I have certain IPs in the local network that I need to know the name of them. So I thought of telnet using JAVA program. to get them.
      Is this possible. thank you.
Oh & need to get the name in user level, coz it may not possible to know each any every user name and password for telnet in every device. but I believe I can get the name in the lowest user level.

      regards

if you know the right command to execute over that telnet connection, I don't see why not.

As mentioned that doesn't have anything to do with java.

Can you get the information using telnet? If yes, then you can access that information via java.

If no then nothing you do in java will help.

If the answer is yes then you can look to the apache jakarta commons library for a java telnet API.
