Best help system?

I am developing a Java open source maths IDE (www.sympl.org), along the lines of Mathematica or MatLab.

I would like to have easily accessible help in every docking pane, dialog... maybe field.

Is JavaHelp the way to go, or are there better solutions?

Must be GPL'd

TIA

JavaHelp can bring you that. I think the IDE demo. of the API covers that.

I doubt it has many competing APIs.

The JavaHelp binaries are distributed under the BCLA. I am not sure what license the source is.
